Idukki Arch Dam and Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary
Idukki Arch dam is the highest Arch Dam in Asia. It includes three different dams two of them (Idukki and Cheruthoni) are built across the Periyar river and other one is Kulamavu which is 30 Kilometers away. Idukki Arch dam which built between Kuruvan and Kurathi hills and does not have shutters. A natural garden called Hill View Park located between Cheruthoni Dam and Idukki Arch Dam.
The Tropical Evergreen forests Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary occupied major part of Idukki district and making a catchment area for Idukki reservoir. Elephant, Sambar, Barking Deer, Mouse deer, Bonnet macaque, Nilgiri Langur, Malabar giant squirrel are commonly found in this dense forest. You can have a memorable experience driving from Cheruthoni to Moolamattam through this well maintained wild life sanctuary in Kerala which will give you unique wildlife experience. Wild animals like elephants, bison and deer may cross the roads and you feel inside their natural habitat. Zig-zag roads, hairpin bends, viewpoints beside the lake of three dams, cool climate adding more charm to this beautiful jungle. Also you can have boat trip on dam reservoir, animals sighting depends upon your luck. The boating is about 5 minute drive from the main entrance but book ticket in advance to save the time.
Panchalimedu is a shrubby and grassy view point near Peermade with is 2500 feet above sea level. The place is surrounded by deep valleys and hills, accompanied by meadows, grasslands soaked in snow and cool refreshing climate. Panchalimedu means- Hill of Panchali, was one of the hiding place for Pandava brothers and Panchali during their exile.
As per Hindu mythology, It is believed that Pandavas and their wife Panchali took their daily bath at Panchalikulam- a small circular pond situated there has full of water even in the summer. Cave of Pandavas also known as Pandavaguha also here in which the footprints of Bhima can be seen. The Makarajyothi can be seen from Panchalimedu during Makarasankranthi days which is connected to the famous pilgrim center Sabarimala.
Panchalimedu offers tourists a panoramic view of an unending stretch of valleys and hills. The road to reach the spot will give you a nice feeling to ride especially if you are using a bike. The rider may feel like entered in another world. The journey to the valley after climbing Murinjapuzha itself is endearing. The cool climate and refreshing breeze is a specialty here.
Panchalimedu is basically just a hill but the feeling you get when we spend some time here is unmatchable. It is a great example of ethereal atmosphere and how nature can be good refresher for you. Must visit place for people who look for less crowded yet highly refreshing spots altogether will give you an unforgettable experience.
Renovation is being done to improve the facilities of Panchalimedu, and tourism department is planning expansion of Panchalikulam to a dam and to start pedal boat service. Entrance to this facility is limited with entry pass. The ticket cost: Adults 10 Rupees, Child 5 Rupees, Camera 100 Rupees, Wedding Album shooting 500 Rupees, and Cinema shooting 10000 Rupees.
7 kilometers hike from Murinjapuzha town on Kottayam Kumily route. If you are coming by bus, hire a jeep from Murainjapuzha to Panchalimedu. Panchalimedu can be reached 5 km from Murinjapuzha and 6 km from Amalagiri.
Chathurangapara
Chathurangapara is located near Santhanpara- a town 30 kilometers away from Munnar and 20 kilometersaway from Nedumkandom of Idukki district. It is the border of Kerala and its nearest state Tamil Nadu. A chilly wind blows all the time from the valley and it gives you amazing experience.
Ramakkalmedu
Ramakalmedu is a scenic point on the Western Ghats which faces to the valley of Tamilnadu. How to reach Ramakalmedu? It is 15 Kilometers away from Nedumkandom which is one of the major town in Idukki district.
Major attractions at Ramakkalmedu are Statue of Kuruvan and Kuruthi, Windmills and amazing view of Tamilnadu. Also the tourists can do a hiking to the rock called Ramakkallu. Jeep trekking is available at Ramakkalmedu. For two hours off-road Jeep safari costs 1000 Rupees for 8 people and it will takes two hours. There is another longer Jeep Safari also available which takes four and half hours. It covers Ramakkalmedu as well as grape garden in Tamil Nadu which costs 2400 Rupees for eight travelers.There is some full day tour option available which includes Jeep trekking, breakfast, lunch, and dinner with campfire.

Parunthumpara
Parunthumpara is a sprawling grasslands hill station and a stopover location for tourists who come from Kottayam to Thekkady.
Cheeyappara Waterfalls
This is also located between Neriamangalam and Adimali and is near Valara waterfalls. The sprays of the cascading waterfalls can be seen from afar.

Anchuruli
Anchuruli provides a bewitching and awesome view of nature. The charming atmosphere with only sounds of birds, streams and waterfalls, obviously makes a favorite destination for each traveler to relax and be away from the madding crowd and polluted cities. Anchuruli being famous for its waterfalls, offers a scenic view of evergreen forest, grasslands and hilly areas of the western ghats. The main attractions of Anchuruli are the large waterbody and a huge circular tunnel of 4 Kilo meters long, which brings water from Erattayar Dam to the Idukki reservoir. When the water flow is less strong, we can see the small light at the end of the tunnel. During monsoon, the water flow through the tunnel is more and it forms a magnificent waterfall in Anchuruli. Ponmudi Dam
Ponmudi dam is built across the Paniyar river where you can enjoy adventure trekking and boating. This dam is located in Adimaly- Rajakkadu road.
Palkulamedu
Palkulamedu is a wonderful tour destination for those who love adventure trekking. Terrain for trekking is moderately difficult that leads into the hilly off-road, and the hill rises steeply, the meadows envelop it like an emerald carpet and you feel like at the top of the world. Kalvary Mount /Calvary Mount
Kalvary Mount is a tourist spot located above Idukki water reservoir. It give picturesque view of the wide waterbody spread around Idukki hills. How to reach Kalvary mount viewpoint? It is just 5 kilometers from Idukki town in the Cheruthoni to Kattappana route.
Nadukani
This is a wonderful scenic viewpoint from the top of Idukki mountains which opens to an endless stretch of greenery land and low-lying areas. Nadukani viewpoint is located in the Moolamattam- Cheruthoni road.

Mankulam and Anakulam
The tourist gets the exotic cardamom aroma when he unwinds the steeply hills of high range which has plethora of rare flora and fauna. Mankulam is virgin tourist spot located between Adimaly and Munnar which gives you unequal experience of off-road travel.

Thooval Waterfall
Thooval Waterfall is an unexplored cascade which is 10 kilometers away from Nedumkandom. As the water flows from 1000 feet height through the 5 steep rocks give you mind-blowing experience. How to reach Thooval waterfall? From Nedumkandom or Kattappana to Erattayar then Perinchamkutty then Thooval.
Thommankuthu waterfall the located near Thodupuzha, Idukki district and is named after the wild hunter Thommichan Kuruvikkunnel. This a seven – step waterfall becomes very popular tourist spot in and one the major center of eco-tourism in Kerala.
Anayadikuthu or Aanachadikuthu Waterfall is located almost 20 Kilometers from Thodupuzha, which is in Idukki district in Kerala. This fall is very closer to the famous Thommankuthu waterfall. Here local people saying that once upon a time during summer elephant herds used to come here to have water from the canal just above the falls. One day an elephants fell off to the falls while drinking water from the canal and hence the name Anayadikuthu.
It’s very shallow and perfectly safe unless you don’t do any diving kind of activity there. The water was coming with immense force and so please try to keep your head straight when you are directly under the falling water. It’s really a beautiful waterfall and perhaps the very few waterfall where anyone can go without any fear of drowning. There is almost zero risk in that waterfall unless you become very silly like climbing the fall or diving etc. Aanayadikuthu is a very good waterfall which we are sure will gain publicity in the future.
Ammachi Kottaram or Rani Kottaram is a Palace and summer resort was built before 208 years ago by Thiruvithamkoor Maharaja. The palace consists of 3 rooms, 2 halls, one visiting room, dining hall, kitchen, store room and 2 secret passages. One secret passage is for movement within the palace and the other secret passage will take one to Peerumade Temple. Major part of the Malayalam film Carbon was shot at Ammachi Kottaram. When you come from Kottayam through KK road, you can see a resort called Misty Mountain, turn left before this resort and proceed 3 kilometers and you will reach the entrance of Ammachi Kottaram.

Ayyapancoil Hanging Bridge
Ayyappancoil hanging (Suspension) bridge is built across the Periyar River, connecting the Ayyappancoil panchayath and Kanchiyar Panchayath in Idukki district Kerala. Ayyappancoil hanging bridge is 14 kilometers away from the nearest famous picnic spot Anchuruli on the Kottayam-Kattapana route in Idukki District. From Kattappana to Elappara route, you have to turn right from the Mattukkatta town and proceed 2.5 kilometers to reach this bridge which is providing a bewitching and awesome view of nature and the Periyar River.
