Kalpathi
Kalpathy Viswanatha swamy temple is the oldest Siva temple in this region. Kalpathi Ratholsavam is the festival is usually conducted second week of November over a period of 10 days. Kalpathy is 3 kilometers near to Palakkad town and 1 kilometers away from Palakkad Junction railway station. The nearest airport is Coimbatore International Airport (55 kilometers).
Varikkassery Mana
The District of Palakkad has of many Brahmin traditional houses called Manas. Varikkassery is an aristocratic old Mana located at Manissery near Bharathapuzha near Ottappalam. The Mana is open on all days from 09.30am-05.00pm and the visitors have to get entry pass costs 20 rupees per adult. Do not miss the pond with beautiful steps also there near to the mana. The multistoried Varikkassery mana has an alluring attachment called Pathayappura. The mana was used in a number of hit Mollywood movies and the films shot here are Devasuram, Aaraam Thampuran, Rappakal, Madampi, Simhasanam, Thooval Kottaram, Valliettan, Narasimham. The Varikkassery Mana was built by Ravi Namboothirippad before 100 years ago.
Pothundi Dam is constructed in the 19 century and is one of the oldest dams and the biggest Mud Dam in India. There is a small garden adjacent to the dam.
Malampuzha
The Yakshi Statue is one of the most popular sculptures of Kerala which is regarded as an artistic wonder by lovers of art. The statue is located in the Malampuzha Gardens and attracts millions of visitors every year. The statue, placed at the backdrop of mountain ranges and lush green gardens, offers a visual treat to the spectator.
Yakshi, a mythological figure, was sculptured by Kanai Kunjiraman, one of the most famous sculptors of Kerala, in the year of 1969. The statue is colossal in size and is created out of a single section of rock. The skillfulness and the creativity behind the statue are remarkable, and it leaves the spectator spellbound.
It is one of the must-see attractions in Malampuzha and can be combined with a trip to the dam site and gardens. Evenings spent in the Malampuzha Gardens are made spectacular by the presence of this magnificent marvel carved out of stone.
